Water Music is to be a set of 12 studies for solo piano. The pieces are about the dynamics of water - how it flows; turbulences; dispersals; fragmentations; flow-forms; reflections; chaos; linear variation. But because there is a significant body of fascinating theoretical writings on the way water behaves, this work is being filtered through both fieldwork and theoretical research. Although water in action has a sound-spectrum already, I want to make these pieces to be about far more than just how water sounds. I also want to make music that does what water does.
