As is self-evident from the drawings, Le Gorge du Tarn is a landscape - in fact a deep series of gorges and ravines in South West France. I did little to abstract from the landscapes as they appeared to me. The music of the same name (for horn, violin and piano) is unashamedly romantic and harks-back to the music of Brahms. There was something about the sights and sounds of that magnificent landscape which made such a piece of music inevitable.
